La Casa Employees Participate in National Denim Day 2022

Staff at La Casa MHRC and PHF proudly participated in this year’s National Denim Day event on Wednesday, April 27 by wearing jeans to support survivors of sexual assault. This is the second year in a row that the program has rallied together to support this important initiative.

Denim Day is a campaign that takes place every April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To provide a little backstory, Denim Day began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.

If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, help is available 24/7.
