Orange County STEPS Has A Challenge For You!

Walking and exercising can be great ways to boost your mood and your energy, says the American Psychological Association! According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), walking for 20 minutes a day can also decrease your chances of being hospitalized.

“A new study published in the JAMA Network Open found that physical activity not only decreases people’s risk of developing health problems but may also help prevent them from being hospitalized. Researchers found that the magic number was just 20 minutes of daily exercise. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about incorporating exercise into your daily routine.” —Benefit of the Month, April

After reading the benefit of the month, the Orange County STEPS program decided to take walking for a spin.

“The Orange County STEPS team decided to start a daily afternoon walk to stay healthy and increase our self-care while at work.  We also began a morning walk two to three times a week with members as well! We would like to challenge other Telecare programs to get their walk-on!”
