About Telecare Thurston Mason E&T

At the Telecare Thurston Mason Evaluation and Treatment (E&T) center, we provide intensive mental health and psychiatric treatment services in a safe, welcoming environment for adults experiencing a mental health emergency.

We believe recovery starts from within, and that our job is to do whatever it takes to provide the support needed on the journey to recovery in a comfortable, structured environment. Our secure 15-bed facility includes services provided by professional and paraprofessional staff in accordance with licensing and certification requirements.

Our services emphasize choice-making skills and harm-reduction techniques. We provide a safe, respectful environment where individuals can receive immediate, individualized assistance and a compassionate presence to stabilize symptoms, avoid the need for higher levels of care, and receive appropriate referrals to community-based resources.

Upon arrival, a diverse clinical team will conduct an individualized assessment and work with each individual every step of the way to support their goals in life.

Recovery Model

Our services are designed using Telecare’s Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS). This system incorporates evidence-based practices and innovative design components, emphasizes choice-making skills and harm-reduction techniques, and strives to awaken the hopes and dreams of the individual. The RCCS emphasizes “no-force first” practices. Staff work with individuals within their cultural dynamic and assist in building independence and self-responsibility in order to foster their recovery and successfully transition them back to lower levels of care.

Services and Supports

A variety of therapies and activities adapted to individual needs and preferences are offered as a part of each treatment plan. Services at the Thurston Mason E&T include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive evaluation and risk assessment, covering mental health and substance use
  • Psychiatric assessment and treatment
  • Peer support and community group meetings
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Supportive counseling on group and individual basis
  • Medication administration and management

Office Hours

Staff are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Referral Process

Referrals are made primarily through local hospital emergency departments, but may also be made from community providers and designated mental health professionals.

Who Is Served

  • Residents of Thurston or Mason County, ages 18 and older
  • Have a chronic or serious mental illness disorder and who are experiencing an acute crisis (this is determined through an assessment process with one of our contracted providers)
