It is with great pride that we share Telecare President and CEO Anne Bakar’s recent induction into the Alameda County Women's Hall of Fame Class of 2025, specifically for her work in the healthcare field.
In acknowledgment and appreciation of the recognition of her work, Ms. Bakar has given back to Alameda Country through her philanthropic contributions, including personal donations made to Mental Health America of California, the Jewish Family and Children’s Services East Bay, Girls Inc. of Alameda County, and the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame Youth Scholarship program. Ms. Bakar recognizes that educational institutions and community-based organizations such as these contribute to the success of female leaders like her and are vital to future generations.
Established in 1993, the Hall of Fame honors exceptional women who have made a lasting impact in Alameda County’s diverse communities, preserving their legacies in the county archives.
Ms. Bakar and the other outstanding inductees were honored at the 30th Annual Luncheon & Inductee Ceremony on April 26, 2025, at The Club at Castlewood in Pleasanton.
Ms. Bakar’s leadership success over the decades has been the result of her continuous dedication to creating a company culture that delivers excellent and effective behavioral health services, partners closely with public agencies and health plans to deliver systemic solutions, and respects and rewards its diverse professional workforce. Telecare is a majority woman-owned business with a workforce that is over 70% women, and last year, nearly 74% of promotions were women.
“The heart of Telecare’s work is helping people in recovery to live the lives they are meant to live and want to live. I am deeply honored by this recognition and am proud to lead an organization that helps thousands of people in Alameda County with the most complex behavioral health needs. My success, and the success of Telecare, is a testament to the innovative public/private partnership we have cultivated with Alameda County and the Alameda County Behavioral Health Department over decades, and the communities where we serve. As Telecare celebrates our 60th anniversary, I am especially grateful for the mentorship I have received from my Board of Directors and for the support from my outstanding management team. I hope that my journey inspires more young women to come into the field of behavioral health with bold and courageous aspirations at a time of such great need.” — Anne Bakar
Ms. Bakar’s business acumen and leadership benefit organizations beyond Telecare. She is a Board Director of the Steinberg Public Policy Institute and previously served on the Kennedy Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity, as well as a Commissioner on the California Future Health Workforce Commission. She is also a Board Trustee for the UC Berkeley Foundation and on the Executive Committee of the Bay Area Business Council.
As a lifelong resident of Alameda County and a third-generation citizen in Oakland, Ms. Bakar has deep connections to the community, which inspires her work at Telecare and the broader region through her civic involvement and philanthropy.
