60th Anniversary Spotlight: La Paz Resident's Transformation
/Celebrating The People We Serve
As we celebrate Telecare’s 60th year, we want to spotlight some of the things that make Telecare special. The most important people at Telecare are those we serve, who are our reason for existence. From them, we learn about resilience, recovery, hope, joy, and the power within us all to follow our dreams and create the lives we want to live.
Today’s Spotlight:
RavenMan, La Paz Resident
One year ago, a resident arrived at La Paz Geropsychiatric Center feeling lost to himself and to the world. Today, he has been transformed and reborn, self-confident and enthusiastic about life. He has become the proud RavenMan, embracing the metaphor of the mystical spiritual bird revered by many religions for its wit and wisdom. Rising from the ashes, he has been granted a new life.
His sister and mother share their gratitude for his journey:
“This is a special appreciation letter to all those who made it possible!!! One year ago, my brother, RavenMan, was a lost man!! Lost to himself!! Lost to the world!! Today I saw him transformed and reborn, self-confident and enthusiastic about life!! He has become the proud RavenMan, with a metaphor to the mystical, spiritual bird revered by many religions for its wit and wisdom. Rising from the ashes, he has been granted a new life by the creator!! Oh yes!! Miracles are real!! This one happened at the La Paz GeroPsychiatric Center. My deep gratitude and blessings go to Rezarta, Hana, Charles, Eunice, Luke, Brigette, Kolani, Natalie, Barbara, of course, Dr. Benjo, and all the rest of the team who have become a new family at a new home for our dear brother and son. This is a sacred space that has healed him and where he has finally found his inner “paz/peace!” This is the place where he belongs now! These are the people who have seen and nurtured in him who he truly is!! With so much love to all of you,” — RavenMan's sister and mother
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. RavenMan’s transformation reflects his strength and the compassionate, healing environment created together at La Paz. For 60 years, Telecare's legacy has been shaped by stories of hope, perseverance, and transformation.
