Telecare Long-Term Employee Spotlight: Ofelia Alvarez (Copy)
/Celebrating Long-Term Staff
One of Telecare’s greatest strengths is the dedication and commitment of its long-term employees. Their knowledge, experience, and compassion help create lasting impacts for the people we serve and the communities we support.
Today’s Spotlight: Ofelia Alvarez
Today, we are proud to recognize Ofelia Alvarez, who recently celebrated her 43rd anniversary with Telecare's Morton Bakar Center (MBC).
Ofelia began her career with the program before Morton Bakar Center became what it is today, making her one of the longest-serving employees in the company. For more than four decades, she has been a valued member of the program’s community, consistently supporting residents, coworkers, and the program in countless ways.
Congratulations on 43 years of service, Ofelia! Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to the people and communities you serve.
What Ofelia Has to Say:
“My name is Ofelia, and I have been working for Telecare for 43 years. I started working at Garfield Neurobehavioral Center in 1983, and in 1992, we all moved to Morton Bakar Center.
I came to the USA when I was 15 years old with the dream of working, having a better life, and helping my family in Mexico. I’m sure many of us have had the same dream when arriving in the U.S.
Throughout the years, we have faced many challenges at MBC, but the biggest challenge was working during the peak of COVID. It was a very difficult time for every single staff member as we learned to quickly adjust to this “new normal.” Although it was hard work, we all worked together to keep our residents and each other safe.
Many of my fellow coworkers ask me, “What has kept me at Telecare for so many years?” My simple answer is that I’m happy to work here. I like what I do, and I like helping our residents.
Over the 43 years I’ve worked at Telecare, I have worked as a housekeeper and housekeeping supervisor. No matter what your role may be at MBC, every job is just as important as the next.
I have been able to achieve many goals, all thanks to Telecare. For me personally, Telecare, and specifically MBC, has been the best place to work.”

What Made Ofelia’s Time at Telecare So Special:
For 43 years, Ofelia has been a steady and trusted presence at the Morton Bakar Center. Known for her willingness to help wherever needed, she has built lasting relationships with residents and staff while contributing to the program’s growth and success over the years.
It is fitting that the name Ofelia means “help,” “benefit,” or “she who helps.” Anyone who knows Ofelia knows she is often among the first to step in when support is needed. Her commitment to serving others has made a lasting impact on the Morton Bakar Center community and reflects the values that have guided Telecare for the past 60 years.
Thank you, Ofelia, for the difference you have made over four decades of service. We appreciate you and all that you continue to do.
