Juneteenth is a Telecare Holiday

As of June 2022, Juneteenth will be included in Telecare’s yearly holiday schedule.

Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, takes place annually on June 19. The holiday is a combination of the words "June" and "nineteenth." On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, all people living in the United States, including the formerly enslaved, were officially notified and granted freedom. Later that same year, the thirteenth amendment was signed, formally abolishing slavery in America. On June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed a bill into law making the day known as Juneteenth a national holiday (click here to read the proclamation).

Acknowledging and recognizing Juneteenth is one step forward in our efforts to enhance historical and cultural awareness, cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion. While this moment is significant, we know there is more work to be done. We look forward to continuing to expand our learning and inclusiveness to better serve our staff and members.
