Telecare at NAMIWalks Greater LA County 2026
/Telecare's Los Angeles programs were proud to participate in NAMIWalks 2026, which NAMI Greater Los Angeles County (GLAC) Walk Manager Gigi de Pourtales described as the most successful walk in NAMI’s history. Telecare's support and presence contributed to a day of community, advocacy, and connection across Los Angeles County.
For many on the Telecare team, NAMIWalks has become much more than an annual tradition. Regional Director of Operations Marcelo Cavalheiro shared, “NAMIWalks has become much more than an annual Telecare event for many of us. It has become a family tradition. I still remember bringing my daughter to one of the first LA NAMI Walks in a stroller, and now she has just graduated from UCLA.” His reflection speaks to the lasting impact of this partnership and the personal connection it has created over the years.
The day was filled with moments that highlighted the importance of community support. Gigi shared that she had a meaningful conversation with one of Telecare’s residents, who expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received. “He made my day,” she said. For Marcelo and the team, that kind of feedback is a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
Marcelo also recognized Rita Murray of NAMI Whittier, a longtime partner and friend to Telecare, for more than two decades of collaboration and dedication. Senior Vice President Dawan Utecht serves as Telecare’s executive sponsor for NAMIWalks in Los Angeles, underscoring Telecare’s ongoing commitment to mental health advocacy in the community.
We are grateful to be part of this important work and look forward to many more years of walking together.
