In early August, Telecare was the target of an attempt designed to divert funds owed to it from payors to a fraudulent bank account.
In the course of the attempt, third-parties gained access to limited demographic and limited clinical information contained in invoices regarding several hundred patients contained in the email account of one employee.
Telecare took quick action to secure the email account in question and began an investigation.
Telecare has notified authorities and is reaching out to potentially affected patients to notify them, and to offer free credit monitoring for a year. Telecare will continue its training/awareness campaign to de-risk cyberattacks and will continue to implement additional technical and non-technical safeguards to reduce risks.
