A Round of Applause for Team WIT from Orange County Health Care Agency

Day after day, we see staff at our program go above and beyond on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their hard work does not go unnoticed!

Recently, our staff at the Orange County Collaborative Court (WIT) program in Orange County, CA, received a heartfelt thank you message from Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) for a job well done.

WIT was tasked by Orange County HCA to take in 13 clients in just 48 hours when new enrollments typically average 2-3 per week. These new clients came from Orange County Jail and Theo Lacey Jail. They had been deemed suitable candidates for WIT and pled into the program prior to enrollment.

This was part of California’s plan to do an early release of 3,500 non-violent prisoners due to COVID-19.

Administrator Robin Weintraub said her team worked quickly to find new beds, and that the housing specialist at our neighboring Orange County STEPS program was able to provide WIT with a new vendor to ensure that they would be able to enroll all of the new members. The individuals were then picked up from the jails by staff to ensure they wouldn’t be released to the streets.

Way to go, Team WIT!
