How can we do a better job serving mentally ill offenders? How do we keep people out of jails and hospitals and help them become healthier, more stable, and stay successful in the community?

As a mental health provider, Telecare has delivered services to people with SMI and criminal justice backgrounds for years, and if there is one thing we know, it's this: there is always room to improve.

We were thrilled to hear that California's approved FY14-15 budget included significant resources to improve services and supports for mentally ill offenders — with the overall goal of making an impact on recidivism.

Telecare has operated 20 programs that offer specialized services for mentally ill offenders. This month, in Criminal Justice Re-Entry Lessons Learned, we share some of our insights on forensic re-entry services.

This month we also introduce you to Natalie Reinfeld, Psy.D., the administrator for two of our re-entry programs.

If there's anything you need or would like more information about, please contact me any time and let me know.

All the best,
Faith Richie, SVP of Development, Telecare Corporation
