Located on the campus of Ohio Valley Hospital (OVH) in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Willow Brook Geropsychiatric Unit is focused exclusively on caring for elderly patients. We provide acute inpatient care to seniors with a primary psychiatric diagnosis. Inpatient care at Willow Brook Geropsychiatric Unit may be voluntary or involuntary.

Recovery Model

This program follows Telecare’s Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS), an innovative recovery framework that incorporates the latest research and evidence-based practices. RCCS emphasizes doing no harm and supporting and enlivening recovery. The recovery model incorporates such approaches as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), harm reduction, and other consumer-centered therapeutic interventions.

Services and Supports

Telecare provides on-site program management to oversee clinical operations and community outreach. Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorder(s)
  • Individual, family, group, and occupational therapies
  • Primary care physician care to handle any medical co-morbidities

Office Hours

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Referral Process

Consults are made in-house and through the Emergency Department at OVH. Willow Brook Geropsychiatric Unit also accepts self-referrals and referrals from providers outside the hospital.

Who Is Served

  • Geriatric population with a serious mental illness
  • Exceptions may be made, as approved by the Medical Director
