Telecare Corporation and Placer County jointly operate a 16-bed Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) that provides psychiatric treatment services for adults who are in an acute phase of their psychiatric illness. The PHF is located within Placer County's Mental Health Services building in Roseville. The building also houses a 15-bed social rehabilitation facility and the mental health emergency intake department. This service configuration optimizes rapid accessibility to the most appropriate level of care and provides continuity within Placer County's system of care. The PHF is licensed through the California Department of Mental Health under Title XXII of the California Code of Regulations.
Treatment Practice and Philosophy
The treatment philosophy at Placer PHF is based on the premise that all individuals have the potential to rehabilitate and to make choices about their environments for living, learning, working and socializing. Treatment concentrates on symptom reduction and on preparation for discharge with linkage to other community resources The nursing staff, clinical staff, and medical staff jointly plan treatment with patients and their families to assure the shortest possible stay at the acute level of care provided by the Placer PHF.
Program Structure
Telecare's approach to providing services to the mentally ill is based upon the belief that individuals can achieve an improved level of functioning, regardless of the severity of their mental impairment. Each individual's recovery goals can be achieved through accurate evaluation, active treatment, and focused rehabilitation. The program is based on crisis intervention models that address the individual's immediate needs, maintain the individual's safety, and stabilize distressing or life-threatening symptoms.
Financial Support
Funding is provided through a contractual arrangement with Placer County. The cost of the program is partially reimbursable through Medi-Cal.
