Recovery PhilosophyEnlivening Recovery

Recovery grows from a seed of hope within the individual, and the ability to see oneself in a new light. It is a personal process. And, it belongs to the person who is recovering, to do by and for him or herself.

Recovery is an awakening of hopes and dreams. It involves gaining the knowledge to reclaim one's power and achieve one's desires by learning to make choices that bring strength rather than harm. It is living a meaningful life with the capacity to love and be loved.

Telecare was founded on the belief that rehabilitation and recovery from serious mental illness is possible. Our core thinking on this has never changed. Our approaches, however, have evolved over the years to incorporate the latest research on effective treatment.

Recovery-Centered Clinical System

“You don’t have the power to change someone, but you do have the power to change the environment, including the human interactive environment in which the person is surviving.” — Pat Deegan

Today, all of Telecare's programs have embraced a recovery-focus. We've also developed and are introducing our Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS), which is a richly personal, holistic, comprehensive approach to recovery.

The Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS) is based on a belief that recovery can happen — but it does not cause recovery to happen. Instead, it creates an environment where a person can choose to recover. By connecting to each individual's core self and trusting it to guide the way, we can help awaken the desire to embark on the recovery journey.

The RCCS explores new ways to understand, connect and relate to ourselves and others. It creates an environment where individuals can feel supported as they look at their own life experiences, and set their own direction and path toward recovery. It is a philosophy, a system, and a set of tools that focuses on building strengths and reclaiming hopes and dreams vs. managing one's mental illness or disabilities.
