Redwood Place Customer Report (Aug 2003 to Apr 2007)

March 04, 2008

Recovery begins with hope, with the simple premise that recovery is possible.

Enlivening Recovery, Awakening HopeEnlivening Recovery, Awakening HopeRedwood Place, a 36-bed program launched in August 2003 as the first program in California to offer recovery-centered inpatient services for individuals with both developmental disabilities and serious mental illness, is innovative in several ways.

Its purpose is to support people in reclaiming their hopes and dreams, while preparing to transition back to the community.

4% of admissions came to Redwood Place from a State Developmental Center (SDC)

Redwood Place fills gaps in the system of care. As a collaborative partnership between the mental health and developmental disability systems, it creates continuity of care for clients while maximizing limited system resources.

The program uses Telecare Corporation’s Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS), which awakens and enlivens the recovery process.

24% of admissions could have gone to an SDC if Redwood Place had not existed

Through treatment at Redwood Place, clients learn to effectively manage their intense emotions, manage their symptoms of anxiety and depression, and assume greater responsibility in resolving personal conflicts without harm to self or others.

75% of clients that have been discharged have transitioned to lower levels of care

Redwood’s goal is to meet clients as equals, collaborating with them as partners in their recovery.

“I’m so thankful for finding people I can trust, who are helping me live a normal life.”
